A walk in Victoria Park last week brought me to the ruins of Calgary’s second General Hospital.
I couldn’t identify what it really was until I got home and did some research on the Internet. Too bad this structure was torn down in 1973 instead of being fully preserved.
The whole neighbourhood has slowly been drained of its residents in expectation of the expansion of Stampede Park. Much of the homes and businesses in the area have been bulldozed. That said, a few condo projects are going up in their place.
Still, it’s sad to see a good chuck of Calgary’s history simply missing.
