But the server is there, I swear!
I wrote early this morning I couldn’t replicate an error in Safari 5 I had been experiencing through the previous day, where the browser would tell me it could not connect to a server even though the server was just fine.
Since I posted that message, the error came up again — and I got some screen grabs for you.
When confronted with the error message …

… I hit the refresh button to reveal the webpages:

Anyone else in cyberspace experiencing this trouble?
I use Firefox, but it has its own issues. I just write it off to cyber-mysterious…tycism. 🙂
thanks for ur tutorial
I reinstalled the 10.6.4 combo and it seemed to speed up my system and resolve the DNS issues. It is about 700MB download so its worth trying.
Is it ok now? I used to work as a reporter and really enjoyed it. I help people with Mac/Linux/PC problems now.
Mostly fixed, but the Internet will still stall after visiting certain websites. I am mystified. I hope the folks at Apple were getting bug reports about this. There is only so much for a layman such as myself can do about stuff like this.
This might be a problem with a slow DNS server. Have you tried adding the google DNS servers manually?
I have changed my DNS settings to those from Google Open DNS. The situation has improved somewhat but I am still getting the odd error message. Will give it a few days to see how it pans out. Thanks for writing in!
