Citrus

One of the exquisite murals depicting the history of California that adorn the walls of the ground floor at Coit Tower in San Francisco.

Vehicle aperture

The flared entrance to the tunnel under Bunker Hill in Los Angeles gives this ordinarily mundane scene a little something … more.

Cascade of colours

Spotted this in Portland a couple of months ago … could never figure out if this was some kind of art project or the visually pleasing result of a plain old accident.

Knitting granny

Granny here is part of a larger piece of wall art that’s popped up in the last few weeks (maybe months?) in Calgary’s Kensington neighbourhood.

Trying for the perfect take

Another oldie today … one of my favourite nighttime photos shot with the iPhone 4.
Visiting New York in February 2011, I came across a couple of kids recording some skateboarding videos at Columbus Circle in Manhattan as I was walking back to my hotel near to Lincoln Center.
With every take they made they got better at what they were doing … and I got to practice my panning skills.

Quartier chinois

Reaching into the vault … this is one of the two gates welcoming people to Montreal’s Chinatown, as seen back in April 2012.

S is for Submerged

Finally, a chinook in Calgary! Sweet relief from winter’s grip … but the pools and puddles from the melting snow are all over the place.
The Flickr title for this photo: “S is for Submerged”.

Spanning generations

While San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge gets a lot of attention, the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Bridge is no less visually impressive. The section you see above opened in 2013.

One big gigabyte

Whereas a terabyte easily fits in the palm of your hand today, one lowly gigabyte takes up the space you see above. This visualization courtesy of the computer room aboard the U.S.S. Midway museum ship in San Diego.
