Down is up

Here’s another piece of art adorning a panel of the remnants of the Berlin Wall, along what’s now known as the East Side Gallery. Captured this back in September.

Watching the canal

This fella looks as if he could be a character come alive from the NFB animated video of the Canadian folk song The Log Driver’s Waltz, but he’s really quite far from turn-of-the-20th-century Canada. This specimen is overlooking a canal by Kampa Island in Prague.

Polka dots

Happened to come across this very colourful pillar while wandering down a quiet street in London’s Soho neighbourhood back in September. There appeared to be no obvious reason for the decoration … but then again, who really needs one?

Domain of the robots

… and their monkey accomplices. There’s always something creatively put together in the display window of this local Calgary toy store. This instance was from October.

Hands together

This is one of the pieces of art adorning the remnants of the Berlin Wall in former East Berlin, part of what’s now known as the East Side Gallery.

King's Cross, redux

I love this structure at King’s Cross station in London. There’s something soothing about the curvy lattice … although I couldn’t tell you why, exactly.

Something positive to kick off the new year, spotted a few months ago in Prague’s Old Town. Wishing you all a very happy, healthy 2017!

Christmas in Kensington

Calgary’s Kensington neighbourhood all decked out for the season. I snapped this photo right before we were gifted a white Christmas! Merry Christmas to you and yours.

O Christmas Tree

It’s definitely feeling like Christmas inside this downtown Calgary shopping centre … and the Christmas tree looks so much more grand after the stores close and the tree has the mall almost to itself.

Festive wind trees

These “wind trees” are installed on Stephen Avenue in Calgary, between 2 and 3 St. S.W. near Bankers Hall and The Core shopping centre, to help reduce the wind tunnel effect from all the tall buildings in the area. They’re current lit in seasonal colours.
