Real eyes realize real lies

The things that make English such a complicated language to learn for some people is also the source of cool word play. Spotted this is Stockholm last month.

Making music (II)

This guy was making some cool music on Karl Johans gate in Oslo a couple of Saturdays ago, using a musical instrument constructed of different kinds of PVC pipe.

Flush with national pride: Toilets to celebrate Norwegian independence

Tricoloured relief

What I thought at first was a quaint gag in this Oslo park turns out to be a permanent (and functional) art exhibition to celebrate 100 years of Norwegian independence.
Indeed, these are three original Parisian automated toilets renovated and reinstalled in Oslo in 2005, together bearing the slogan most associated with the French republic.
Read more about the concept behind this unusual art project at this link here.

Singing on the shore

This is Oslo’s opera house, which is built in such a way that you can fully explore its bright white rooftop. Scamper up the sloped roof and it makes for a cool lookout with a view of downtown Oslo.

Hurtling downhill

This is the Holmenkollen Ski Jump in Oslo. The only steel ski jump in the world, it was refurbished for championships in 2011 and there are more renovations underway at the park as Olso gets set to host a biathlon competition in 2016.

It's a long way up

Perfect viewpoint

Strolling under leafy shade

This was a nice, quiet walk on the way to the royal palace in Oslo last week.

Come a long way to see you

Here’s one view of The Little Mermaid in Copenhagen. Little would you know from this perspective but she was being absolutely swarmed with visitors at the time.

Stepping up

It took several minutes to walk to the top of this church spire in Copenhagen … but the reward was a cool breeze and a cool view.

Colourful evening
