Part of a sculpture known as The Family of Man, outside the former headquarters of the Calgary Board of Education in the city centre.
This is the second home for The Family of Man, with its second name. This piece of art was first called Brotherhood of Mankind, and it was originally part of the British pavilion at Expo 67 in Montreal.

Van Gogh Observes, a sculpture by the late Canadian artist Joe Fafard, is installed outside an art gallery along 4th Street S.W. in Calgary.
From afar, the shadows in the work struck me as being a little odd, so I walked up to it for a closer look. Imagine my surprise when I figured out what was going on!

One of the lion sculptures that originally adorned Calgary’s Centre Street Bridge was recently restored and relocated to nearby Rotary Park. Here it is in all its glory, as seen last weekend.
You can find another of these restored lions at the front entrance of the Calgary Municipal Building, the name of the modern portion of the city hall complex.
There are still lions on the Centre Street Bridge today, but they are replicas installed in the early 2000s.
From what I’ve read in the past, it appears all these lions are themselves scale models of the lions at Trafalgar Square in London.
