I've been everywhere

This sign, hung on the counter of London Barbers in Kensington, might be one of the last (if not the only) remaining visible reminder of the old Lido café, just down the street on 10 St. N.W. in Calgary.
The Lido site is now a big hole in the ground, ready to welcome a new multi-storey residential building that will bear the same name.

World's most reliable bicycle

These faded building signs are few and far between in Calgary. This one’s along 9 Ave. S.E. in Inglewood.

Histoire, en bref

This is one portion of a mural on Mount Royal Ave. E. in Montreal, which briefly recounts the history of Quebec. Snapped this photo late last month.

March of progress

Historic Tallinn, with the modern city behind it. This image was snapped back in August from the tower at St. Olaf’s Church.

What lies beneath the surface

One of the many turrets along the wall surrounding the old city in Tallinn, Estonia, seen along the surface of a puddle. Captured this image back in August.

Flush with national pride: Toilets to celebrate Norwegian independence

Tricoloured relief

What I thought at first was a quaint gag in this Oslo park turns out to be a permanent (and functional) art exhibition to celebrate 100 years of Norwegian independence.
Indeed, these are three original Parisian automated toilets renovated and reinstalled in Oslo in 2005, together bearing the slogan most associated with the French republic.
Read more about the concept behind this unusual art project at this link here.

A lovely spot overlooking the City of Portland. This image was snapped back in the spring. Perhaps I’ll venture inside next time …
