London, England

A view of The Shard in London, seen through an architectural feature on the Southwark Bridge across the Thames. This image is from my first visit there in October 2012.

Movie theatre, London, England

Another photo from my most recent trip to London: This is a portion of the fresco adorning a movie theatre not far from Covent Garden in London.

London, England

Another snapshot from my fall visit across the Atlantic Ocean … here’s one of the lions on Trafalgar Square, London, framed with Big Ben in the background.

Modernity, London skyline

I’ve yet to wander into the newest, shiniest parts of central London — an unfamiliar skyline populated with skyscrapers and cranes. Perhaps on my next visit …

This view was snapped from the observation deck of the Tate Modern in September 2016.

Chinatown, London

This ornament greets visitors from high above a street in London’s Chinatown. Seen on my visit there in September 2016.

Ill-fated expedition

This engraving in London, on Waterloo Place not far from Trafalgar Square, is part of a memorial to Sir John Franklin, leader of an ill-fated 1840s expedition in search of the Northwest Passage through Arctic Canadian waters.

I snapped this image in September 2016, just days after it was reported the wreck a second ship from his small fleet, HMS Terror, appears to have been found intact and in perfect condition at the bottom of the appropriately named Terror Bay, Nunavut.

Holding things together

Don’t be alarmed! Things look worse than they are, clearly. This very neat implementation of public art was spotted in London this past fall.

Chinatown in London, England

These lanterns hanging over the streets of London’s Chinatown add an extra splash of colour. Spotted this back in September 2016.

(Also … Happy Year of the Rooster!)
