Flying on two wheels

This was one of many art installations featuring this character, presented across Berlin back in September.

Got the message

My Hungarian is only as good as what I could glean from the back pages of a travel guidebook … and I can’t speak to how good my accent is … but with a handy-dandy sign like this, who needs words? 🙂
Spotted along Andrassy Ut in Budapest back in September.

Canoes at English Garden

On this lovely afternoon in September, I explored the southern tip of English Garden in Munich … but not before sampling a half-litre of beer and some sausages at the Chinese Tower Beer Garden inside the park.

Sunset over Buda

It was very fortunate the setting sun and clouds were doing what they did behind the royal palace in Buda as I was getting ready to snap this photo.

Fisherman's Bastion

Fisherman’s Bastion is a wonderful gem on the Buda side of the Danube River in Budapest.
The structure itself is grand and ornate, while the view of Pest from the top of the attraction is equally spectacular.

Buda and Pest

Black obelisk, redux

On Karolinenplatz in Munich, a few minutes walk from the Odeon and the museum district, stands a black obelisk in the middle of a traffic circle. It’s made all the more dark in this dramatic late-afternoon backlight.
The monument commemorates Bavarian soldiers who fought in the era of Napoleon.

Cool kids never sleep

After I snapped this photo in Budapest, I had a nagging feeling I might have seen something similar before. Alas, a quick survey of my collection after I got home didn’t turn anything up … but I get the feeling that other photo is sitting on a hard drive somewhere, waiting for me to find it.
