A re-imagining of The Little Mermaid statue in downtown Calgary — a gift from the city’s Danish community back in the 1970s. The sculpture stands today in the Telus Convention Centre. The original statue stands on the waterfront in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Vintage painted signs are a rarity in Calgary. This one is on a building on 9 Ave. S.E. in Inglewood.

Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Woke up this morning to a radio news person reading a weather report for Calgary, which contained a forecast high temperature of 37 Celsius on Friday. It almost makes me wish for a cover of fresh snow, even if it’s just for a day! Above, a line of buffalo sculptures in a park near the Calgary Courts Centre, snapped back in 2012.

Dinosaur Provincial Park, Alberta, Canada

I hadn’t set foot in Alberta’s badlands for a few years, so it was nice to drop in for a day trip yesterday. This was snapped during a hike in Dinosaur Provincial Park, just north of Bassano, Alberta.

The city of Calgary says the 9 Ave. bridge connecting Inglewood and Ramsay to East Village has reached the end of its useful life and is due for replacement this year.
