Crisis-cross crossing

I might be going out on a limb here … but wide-angle lenses and Calgary’s Peace Bridge are a match made in heaven.

I do not welcome our new rodent overlord

This is a stickup

The idea of a rodent pointing a firearm at me is unsettling … but happily this is just two-dimensional street art in East Portland.

Complex structure

This piece of public art sits at the east end of the Hawthorne Bridge in Portland, Oregon. This view, looking up, was snapped on my trip there earlier this spring.

Bit by an eight-bit bug

Eight-bit bug

Someone is sticking cut-outs of images, reminiscent of eight-bit video games, on walls in parts of the city. I’ve seen two around Kensington Rd. and 10 St. N.W., including the one above, and there was one on a wall on Memorial Dr. under the Centre Street Bridge, briefly anyway. I’m intrigued and will keep an eye out for more of these …

Fireball on wheels

Downtown Phoenix can seem a little sterile at times … but slide into an alley here and there and you might find something as bright and colourful as this, which I spotted not too long ago at the (very discreet) entrance to a bicycle maintenance shop.

Not-so-standard art

This seven-storey sculpture called Bloom graces the public space on St. Patrick’s Island in Calgary. The assemblage of street lights conceived by Montreal-born artist Michel de Broin was unveiled last year.

Buffalo

A very small portion of some wall art mounted in Calgary’s Kensington business district.

Lady's best friend

Reaching back to the vat of photos shot in Phoenix back in November … and found this picture of a neat piece of street art off Central Ave. just north of the central library.

Souris, artiste

While wandering around Montreal’s Plateau Mont-Royal district last week, I came across a very busy-looking mouse crafting some street art.

Hommage à Fido

Some very happy-looking characters on this garage door, hidden away in a back alley in Montreal’s Plateau Mont-Royal neighbourhood.
