Marques

An artistic celebration of unique Quebec brands and corporate imagery — including the long-extinct Steinberg grocery chain.

Content au travail

A very meta element of a larger mural in Montreal, spotted back in the winter.

Dragons asiatiques

Another example of the vast quantity and diversity of mural art found in Montreal these days. This photo was snapped back in January 2020 … which feels like a lifetime ago.

Superhéros

Another fantastic mural seen earlier this year in Montreal. The city seems to have strengthened its culture of murals and street art in recent years, with more and more imaginative and evocative pieces popping up year after year.

Bettinger

I’ve walked past this wonderful piece of ceiling art at Montreal’s Place-des-Arts many, many times over the years but only upon a more recent did I realize there was something else up in the skylight!

C23

These are ribs of wood serving as decoration outside a commercial building in Calgary’s Inglewood neighbourhood. Their uneven, wavy edges create a neat visual effect if you look at this façade while passing by quickly in a car or bus.

Engine 1403

A mural of (who I believe is) William Cornelius Van Horne, the head of the Canadian Pacific Railway, on the alley side of a building in downtown Calgary.
