Suspension bridge in Frankfurt, Germany

This is one of the bridges across the Main River in Frankfurt, Germany. Captured this as I passed thru there in September 2015.

Three-sided portals

Staring up at this building on Oxford Street in London back in September, I found the window design particularly pleasing for some reason.

King's Cross, redux

I love this structure at King’s Cross station in London. There’s something soothing about the curvy lattice … although I couldn’t tell you why, exactly.

Fred and Ginger

This lovely complex next to the Vltava River in Prague, designed by Frank Gehry, is named the Dancing House — also known as Fred and Ginger.

Mirror universe in Prague

Mirror universe

This glass façade in Prague seemed out of place to me. At least it’s as stylish as circumstances will allow — and the glass lets you see a reflection of what the space once probably looked like.

Arc over water

There isn’t a big-name architect attached to Calgary’s George C. King Bridge over the Bow River at St. Patrick’s Island but it’s beautiful all the same.

Crisis-cross crossing

I might be going out on a limb here … but wide-angle lenses and Calgary’s Peace Bridge are a match made in heaven.

Tillikum Crossing

This striking structure is part of Tillikum Crossing, the newest bridge across the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon. Opened to traffic in fall 2015, it’s reserved for use by MAX light rail Orange Line trains, Portland Streetcars, cyclists and pedestrians. It is the first bridge of this sort in the United States, according to TriMet.

King Eddy reborn

Back after a few weeks AFK.
Also (soon to be) back is Calgary’s venerable King Edward Hotel, a noted blues venue, which was carefully dismantled and rebuilt as part of the new Canadian Music Centre in East Village.
Above, how things looked a few weekends ago … and below, when the King Eddy stood alone at the corner of 9 Ave. and 4 St. S.E., almost five years ago.

Blues and more blues

Corridor

This is one of the innumerable corridors making up Montreal’s so-called underground city. Whether it’s to avoid bone-chilling cold in the winter or face-melting heat in the summer, this maze of connections allows one to walk all over the city’s downtown in sheltered comfort.
With its judicious use of building materials and accent lighting, this specimen definitely falls into the art world, in my opinion, while others are a tad more utilitarian or commercial in nature.
