Last week at this time, I was visiting lovely Nova Scotia, hanging out with my cousin.
He brought me to a relatively new gourmet burger joint called Cheese Curds in Dartmouth — so named because it’s also a poutinerie — near the Woodside ferry terminal and the famed John’s Lunch fish and chips shack.
On special last week was the Tex-Mex Burger, seen above. The hand-formed patty on a bun was topped with a slice of cheese, chipotle sauce, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles and and sautéed vegetables (mushroom, onion, peppers). The sauce and some hot peppers in thr veggie mix gave the burger a slight kick. Very tasty.
My cousin also ordered this as well, but he swears by a bacon burger on the regular menu, to which he adds sautéed mushrooms.
If it’s still around on my next visit, I’d definitely go back.

You’d never know this car was almost 60 years old unless you looked it up (or were told, as the case may be).
Evangeline Park (Via Rail 8704) was originally delivered by the Budd Co. to Canadian Pacific for the original Canadian, which launched in 1954-55. Today, the Park cars are also used on the Ocean, which runs between Halifax and Montreal. Today, apart from the Canadian, the Park cars are also used on the tail end of the Skeena (Prince Rupert-Jasper) and in summertime on the Ocean. (Thanks to Jon Calon for the reminder.) You may also see Park cars on charter duty at the tail end of other Via trains.
In this shot, the car is seen parked outside the Via Rail train station in Halifax.

Just posted a whack of pictures from my trip to the East Coast to my Flickr site.
Here are a few of my favourites.
