An extra dusting is left behind on this sign in Calgary after a snow storm at the beginning of February.
Winter has returned with a vengeance in my part of the world. After a significant snowfall last week, we’re now dealing with arctic temperatures until the end of the week. The scene above is from last Wednesday, when it was still relatively safe to be outside!
It’s always a neat challenge to capture this piece of art in a new way. “Conversation” by William McElcheran, on the Stephen Avenue Mall just outside the Hudson’s Bay department store, is seen from behind the shoulder of one of the interlocutors. The image was captured the morning after snow blanketed the city of Calgary a few days ago.
One of the quick snaps I took yesterday after Calgary got walloped by a record-breaking snow storm, with the official record showing almost 33 cm accumulated on Tuesday. Some neighbourhoods got closer to 40 or 50 cm. Tuesday’s snowfall made it Calgary’s snowiest day since 1981 and snowiest Oct. 2 in the weather record books.
