Cowboy Trail, Alberta, Canada

Roadwork this past weekend caused me to be stationary as I was driving around Alberta’s countryside. If you’re going to get stuck in traffic jam, it might as well somewhere with rewarding scenery like this.

Poppy Plaza, Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Today is the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy, a First World War encounter in France now widely regarded as a seminal moment that helped shape Canada as a country. Calgary’s Poppy Plaza is one the memorial monuments erected in honour of Canadian veterans.

Photo booth

Ah, the purveyor of convenient selfies in the era before smartphones. A technician works on a photo booth at North Hill Centre, Calgary. (Ricky Leong photo)

If you’ve ever wondered what an automated photo booth looks like when the user interface is torn away … this post is for you. (And yes, photo booths still exist!) This happened as I was wandering into the grocery store.
