King's Cross, redux

I love this structure at King’s Cross station in London. There’s something soothing about the curvy lattice … although I couldn’t tell you why, exactly.

Fred and Ginger

This lovely complex next to the Vltava River in Prague, designed by Frank Gehry, is named the Dancing House — also known as Fred and Ginger.

Mirror universe in Prague

Mirror universe

This glass façade in Prague seemed out of place to me. At least it’s as stylish as circumstances will allow — and the glass lets you see a reflection of what the space once probably looked like.

Stately arches

This is a lovely detour off the Georgenbau city gate on the way to the Neumarkt square. Not exactly off the beaten path, but a lot less crowded and a bit more visually interesting. Snapped this view on a visit back in September.

Arc over water

There isn’t a big-name architect attached to Calgary’s George C. King Bridge over the Bow River at St. Patrick’s Island but it’s beautiful all the same.

Crisis-cross crossing

I might be going out on a limb here … but wide-angle lenses and Calgary’s Peace Bridge are a match made in heaven.

Tillikum Crossing

This striking structure is part of Tillikum Crossing, the newest bridge across the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon. Opened to traffic in fall 2015, it’s reserved for use by MAX light rail Orange Line trains, Portland Streetcars, cyclists and pedestrians. It is the first bridge of this sort in the United States, according to TriMet.

Reflet

Once upon a time, taking a photo at this location would not have produced the same result. This now-aluminum/glass-shell building, part of the Place Ville Marie complex in downtown Montreal, had its exterior replaced several years ago to remove its deteriorating pre-fabricated concrete components.

Passage to the sky

It’s hard to believe this sci-fi-esque piece of architecture belongs to something as banal as a shopping centre! Spotted in Frankfurt on a lazy, rainy Sunday afternoon back in September.
