Dresden’s cathedral was wrecked during the Second World War and remained a pile of ruin for decades. It re-opened to the public in 2005 after years of painstaking restoration. Here’s the scene outside the landmark in September 2016, its adjacent public square buzzing with activity.

inTo my layman’s eyes, the glass dome of the arts school in Dresden looks like a lemon juicer. I’m sure I’ll be forgiven for my active imagination … because I later learned locals call this structure the “lemon squeezer!”
