One of the things I like to do when visiting someplace is to identify something tall and and see how I can go about getting a look inside and, perhaps, a view from the top.
Apart from being something obviously touristy to do, such an activity also helps with burning calories if the climb is done on foot.
In Bath, England, joining a guided tour for a climb up the winding, narrow staircases in the clock tower at Bath Abbey gets you closer to the mechanics of the clock and its bells, as well as a quick history of the building and the site. It also includes a visit into the room directly behind the church’s clock face (photo above).
And once at the top of the clock tower, visitors are rewarded with a beautiful view of the city, including the Romans Baths below the abbey (photo below).

One of the many artifacts inside Bath Abbey. This is a regimental flag belonging to the former Somersetshire Light Infantry, The Prince Alberts.

Slowly but surely making my way through the photos I snapped during a recent trip to parts of England and Wales … here’s another one from Brighton taken a few weeks ago, at the clock tower in city centre.
Stay tuned for more pictures (and maybe a few more words) from the Brighton and London regions, plus Bath and Cardiff too.

The Royal Pavilion in Brighton is an architectural taste of south Asia on the coast of the English Channel. The building was originally constructed as the summer home of George, then Prince of Wales, who would later become King George IV.
