Out to lunch

From the archives: This ageless schoolboy enjoys his packed meal and a book in a little park-like space at O’Farrell and Fillmore streets in San Francisco.

Here’s a trippy piece of indoor wall art from the World Trade Centre complex in Old Montreal, snapped back in December.

Pointed tops

A couple of my colleagues were chatting about San Francisco Thursday night. As they mentioned the little alley named after Jack Kerouac, it got me thinking about what else was around there … and I dug up this photo.

Making all the right moves

I read on the Interwebs in the last few days of the demise of 5 Pointz, a large industrial complex in Queens that was once a haven for graffiti artists.
And what a haven it was. Much of the building’s exterior surface was transformed from a one-time industrial wasteland to colourful, bright urban art.
The building even hosted artists inside for a time.
Here are some snapshots from that place, taken on my last visit to New York in August 2011. I’m very glad I got to see it before it was dismantled.

Corny Big

Because the names of foreign snack foods can be amusing. Saw this in a vending machine at the Osnabrück train station in Germany, while I was on my way to Hamburg this past summer. (Unfortunately, I did not try this.)
