A few of my friends are visiting Paris at the moment … and I’m itching to get back one day for a proper visit. This is a view of the Place du Trocadéro, foreground, with the skyscrapers of La Défense off in the distance as they appeared in late 2012. If I recall correctly, this view is from the Eiffel Tower.

This photo was taken last month at what I consider the southern edge of downtown Montreal. The major artery you see here is boulevard Robert-Bourassa, previously known as rue University. The street is still called University in the portion near the campus of McGill University.

Let’s wind back the clock a decade and visit with this skyline of Calgary from January 2008, seen from the bridge connecting Inglewood to the zoo. The city has changed so much in 10 years. No only are there a few more skyscrapers in the middle and toward the left of this scene, the bridge I stood on to take this photo has since been taken apart and replaced.
