Pioneer Market

Calgary has so few of these painted signs, finding one new to me brings a little bit of irrational excitement. I came across this one while wandering down an alley in downtown Calgary, not far from where I found the mural whose image I shared yesterday.

Authenticité

A beautiful use of type here, spotted in Montreal this past winter.

Pas de stationnement

Another one from January: Someone didn’t notice the giant “No parking” sign posted atop a mechanic’s garage in Montreal.

Breakfast all day, Calgary, Alberta, Canada

A beautiful, modern painted sign, seen in a city that has precious few of these from any era. Red’s Diner is on 4th Street S.W. in Calgary, in the Beltline on the way to Mission.

Yahoo

This Yahoo sign in the heart of Stampede Park is one of many installed around Calgary to promote and celebrate the Stampede. Behind it is a portion of the sculpture On the Banks of the Bow and the Scotiabank Saddledome arena.
