Dear Santa

Santa Claus gets ready to take a peek at a last-minute Christmas wish before he checks his list twice and heads out on his annual visit. This scene was from a light show outside the Rio hotel in Las Vegas in December 2018.

Lone snowflake

Here’s one solitary artificial snowflake, a Christmas decoration spotted at a Las Vegas hotel last year.

Oh oh!

Last year, I captured this Christmas display (from behind) in the door of a business in the Downtown Container Park in Las Vegas. Little did I know what kind of “oh, oh” we were all in for in the year to follow.

Frosty and friends

From a couple of years ago: Frosty the Snowman (I presume?) hangs out with his pals as part of one of many displays at a winter lights show outside the Rio hotel in Las Vegas.

Some distinctive art features added to the streetlights in Phoenix, Arizona, as captured on a visit there in 2015.

Take me to another time and another place

In places, Venice Beach sometimes feels like something else. This photo was snapped back in October 2013.

Eating time

My social media reminded me that seven years ago at this time, I was at the end of a trip along the west coast of the United States. This picture was from somewhere in Hollywood, if memory serves — one of the more whimsical scenes I captured during my visit.

Fremont Street

From my visit back in December, a nighttime snap of the giant multimedia canopy that covers a few blocks of Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas.

Galaxy of artificial fireflies

A view from a cool piece of art that on display at the Phoenix Art Museum.

“You Who Are Getting Obliterated in the Dancing Swarm of Fireflies” by artist Yayoi Kusama, above, is a darkened house of mirror filled with strings of colour-changing LEDs.

Below, I had some fun with the camera while inside the art display.

Structures

Some cool rock formations paired with equally cool clouds just outside Kingman, Arizona, as seen through the window of an intercity bus back in December.
