Père de la Confédération; Fathernof Confederation, Sir George-Etienne Cartier

Monument to Sir George-Étienne Cartier in Montreal’s Jeanne Mance Park. The site is best known nowadays for its Sunday morning tam-tam public drum (and general hanging out) sessions.

Beneath 111 Yesler in Seattle

Most people’s exposure to subterranean Seattle is limited to the transit tunnels downtown.
But just a few blocks toward the harbour, the Underground Tour takes you into that city’s first tunnels, intimately tied to Seattle’s history and development.
It’s a particular treat for history buffs and those who love urban decay.
Thanks to our guide Allie (below) for an informative and entertaining visit.

Grand Central Station in New York City

New York’s Metropolitan Transit Authority is celebrating the 100th anniversary of Grand Central Station.
Cheers and here’s to 100 more — at least!
Here’s a shot of the station taken on a visit back in February 2011.

Exposed

Demolition is underway at the old Calgary Herald building site on 7 Ave. and 1 St. S.W. It’s to make way for a new building whose planned height would best The Bow by several metres, which would make it the tallest office tower in western Canada.

Illuminer notre esprit

Notre-Dame-de-Paris Cathedral. Never made it to the observation level of the church. Perhaps, if I ever go back to Paris …

Fort Point, San Francisco, seen back in March 2010. Missing that city so very much!
