United Theatre, 1922

Some work along the plaza on Rue Saint-Hubert in Montreal earlier this year reveals the façade of the old Plaza Theatre.

Marques

An artistic celebration of unique Quebec brands and corporate imagery — including the long-extinct Steinberg grocery chain.

Content au travail

A very meta element of a larger mural in Montreal, spotted back in the winter.

Dragons asiatiques

Another example of the vast quantity and diversity of mural art found in Montreal these days. This photo was snapped back in January 2020 … which feels like a lifetime ago.

C-Level Cirque

Near the top of Cascade Mountain in Banff National Park is this geological feature carved out by an ancient and long-gone glacier. This is the “back side” of Cascade Mountain: the other side is what you see when you look eastward down the main street in the Banff town site.

Wayward blue jay

Some art painted onto the wall of an abandoned mine building partway up Cascade Mountain in Banff National Park.

Roots of the path

Going up Cascade Mountain in Banff National Park was made a little easier thanks to many exposed tree roots serving as steps going up and down the trails.

Water of the spirits

Returned to Banff National Park on Friday to hike up Cascade Mountain with a friend. Afterwards, we took over a couple of Muskoka chairs on the shore of Lake Minnewanka for a quick, late lunch — with a nice view on the side.

Superhéros

Another fantastic mural seen earlier this year in Montreal. The city seems to have strengthened its culture of murals and street art in recent years, with more and more imaginative and evocative pieces popping up year after year.
