Fall colours, 2020

The lovely view from the Peace Bridge a couple of weeks ago, before the weather turned cold and the snow began to fly. Calgary was blessed with many weeks to enjoy the fall colours, as opposed to the much shorter period we’re accustomed to around these parts.

The Bow River curves around Prince’s Island Park in Calgary’s city centre, as seen from the Peace Bridge last month.

Peaks and valleys

Here are a few more snaps from a visit around the town of Banff last weekend.

Looking east(ish), above, through the trees at the top of Tunnel Mountain. Below, from top to bottom, Cascade Mountain looms over Banff Avenue, seen from bridge over the Bow River; looking west(ish) along the Bow River and the Canadian Pacific rail line, from top of Tunnel Mountain; and two images from the Marsh Loop trail.

Autumn in Bridgeland

It’s pleasantly surprising to see Calgary’s deciduous trees retain their red, gold and orange hues for so long this autumn. This is usually a one- or two-week affair … but we’re rolling into Week 3 now, easily. Glorious.
