A couple of my colleagues were chatting about San Francisco Thursday night. As they mentioned the little alley named after Jack Kerouac, it got me thinking about what else was around there … and I dug up this photo.
Keeping things simple

Many of the exhibits at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam this past summer were annotated with these little sticky notes of sorts, each with some artistic prose. The author of this particular message seems to like to keep it light.
Farewell to 5 Pointz

I read on the Interwebs in the last few days of the demise of 5 Pointz, a large industrial complex in Queens that was once a haven for graffiti artists.
And what a haven it was. Much of the building’s exterior surface was transformed from a one-time industrial wasteland to colourful, bright urban art.
The building even hosted artists inside for a time.
Here are some snapshots from that place, taken on my last visit to New York in August 2011. I’m very glad I got to see it before it was dismantled.

All over Montreal’s Plateau Mont-Royal, from the more-than-life-size wall art on Boul. Saint-Laurent, above, to the little stickers seen on buildings on and around Ave. du Mont-Royal, below, are four-eyed figures with short messages for passersby.
