Here’s a small sticker with a big political message, presumably relaying a dislike for the way North America’s indigenous peoples are portrayed in professional sports team names and branding. Found this on my recent visit to Phoenix.

Historical painted signs are as rare in Phoenix as they are in Calgary, it seems. Even in the older Warehouse District, south of the office towers in downtown Phoenix, things like these are hard to spot. This image captured on my visit there last month.

This depiction of Havana, Cuba, adorns a wall alongside an access ramp to a parking garage in downtown Phoenix … and there’s no apparently obvious reason why this is here. (Was there a Cuban restaurant or social club here, once upon a time?) Image captured back in April.
