It was a short visit to Calgary Expo for me this year, with time for only one panel discussion. I picked one with Colm Meaney, known for his roles on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Hell on Wheels and a bevy of feature films. Here, he is speaking about the 2013 flood in Calgary, which affected Hell on Wheels’s production on the outskirts of the city. He said the flood washed away their set and displaced the cast and crew multiple times before they got to high-enough ground.

Amid the dizzying array of dazzling costumes I came across at Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo on Sunday, this depiction from Star Wars is one of the standouts, in my humble opinion.

In anticipation of my one and only day attending the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo tomorrow, here are two iconic vehicles from the comic and science-fiction world — Batman’s Batmobile, above, and the DeLorean from Back to the Future, below. Spotted both during my first Calgary Expo back in 2012.

Here are some of my favourite photos from the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo this weekend.
The photo above is No. 1 on my list: The costume/bag was cool itself … and then the kid wearing it unexpectedly decides he needs to rearrange his something hanging from his neck just as I’m shooting the image. The result is priceless. I walked up to the guy afterward, showed him the photo and he giggled for a good 15 seconds.

Well, as with poor Mario here, the game is up for another year for the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo. There’ll probably be one more post with a few more photos from this year’s Expo. At any rate, I’m looking forward to another weekend of non-stop geektitude in 2015!
