Here’s an oldie, from when I hung out for a few hours in Voss, Norway, back in August 2014. The reason for being there — to catch a sleeper train back to Oslo — afforded me several hours of wandering.
I had to eat dinner at some point, so after grabbing a few supplies at the local grocery store, I found myself a picnic spot somewhere near water.
Cheap (for Norway) food, priceless view.

Just a few minutes from the King’s Cross/St. Pancras railway complex in London are the Coal Drop Yards, a former industrial area along the Regents Canal being remade for modern retail/leisure, near other new buildings housing offices and residential spaces. Here is one of the buildings, as it was about a year ago.

This stately building on Yonge Street in Toronto used to be home to North Toronto railway station. I had to look up this building in Google to verify its history … but its proximity to train tracks and the lovely clock tower pretty much gave away its heritage. It is currently a (very beautiful) liquor store.
