Jasper, Alberta, Canada

Via Rail’s Canadian in Jasper National Park. The view is from one of the forward Skyline dome cars, looking back toward the back of the train. Snapped on my cross-Canada train trip back in April 2013.

Toronto, Ontario, Canada

An oldie for y’all today: People enjoying the ice rink at Nathan Phillips Square outside Toronto City Hall. Snapped this on a nighttime stroll about a decade ago.

New York

Some street art spotted on the streets of New York City way back in August 2011. (I really need to get back there for another visit!)

Dresden, Germany

Dresden’s cathedral was wrecked during the Second World War and remained a pile of ruin for decades. It re-opened to the public in 2005 after years of painstaking restoration. Here’s the scene outside the landmark in September 2016, its adjacent public square buzzing with activity.

London, England, U.K.

A view of the Shard skyscraper and surrounding area in London, seen just before sunset from the observation deck atop the Tate Modern art museum on my last visit to the U.K. capital in September 2015.

Berlin: Do not play

Berlin, Germany

The marquee of an abandoned movie theatre in Berlin, Germany, hides an appropriate former name for the place, which Google tells me means “Do not play”. The last time I was there, in September 2015, the building was in a state of disrepair and was covered with all sorts of art.

Just a random couple walking ahead of me in the median of Straße des 17. Juni in Berlin back in September 2015, just a few steps from the Brandenburg Gate.

Poppies

These poppy-adorned banners flutter every day over Memorial Drive in Calgary, providing a constant reminder of why we commemorate Remembrance Day today.
